I am Jancelyn.
My experiences have taken me across different industries and disciplines, shaping a broad and grounded perspective. I graduated in counselling, deepening my understanding from theoretical frameworks to human experiences. I’ve trained with world-leading teachers in yoga, wellness, and creativity, and worked alongside leaders in community support. In the earlier part of my career, I was also in the field of finance and accountancy, with both local businesses and multinational companies. These experiences have grounded me—not just in life, but in a deep understanding of personal and collective growth.
Self-realisation is at the heart of my daily life, especially during difficult times. I find valuable insights not only in my own experiences but also in the world around me. Honesty is a value I hold deeply. I strive to honour the truth while staying mindful of the spaces we navigate.
After surgeries and treatments, I once thought I wouldn’t be able to practice poses like Uttanasana or backbends again. My flexibility was never my strength, and it certainly isn’t what it once was. But what truly matters is that I’ve found my way back to the mat. Yoga isn’t about being "good" at it; it’s about what it brings to you. Yoga has always been an important part of my life, throughout my recovery journey, and it continues to hold space for me today. I value practicing in spaces that are safe, free from comparison and competition, where humility is integral.
I wish I could explain it simply, but my own experiences have shown me why trauma-informed practices are so crucial. After returning to the mat, I needed to step out during a 75-minute yin class to use the restroom (due to side effects from surgery). When I returned, I was locked outside the class and had to wait for a while until the instructor unlocked the door. Instead of being given the space to take care of my needs, I was told that there were options for shorter 60-minute sessions. My attempt to explain was disregarded before I could even share it, and the instructor immediately turned away and moved on to her next class. There have been other incidents, but this one still highlights the importance of awareness in such spaces.
That moment made me realise how crucial it is for yoga spaces to be inclusive, understanding, and adaptable to individual needs.
So, I made it a part of my own teaching—recognising the importance of safety, awareness, and individual needs. Ensuring that people feel supported and respected in their practice.
Taking the step to consider and engage in the process of caring for ourselves is an act of courage—one that nurtures our wellbeing. Through words and conversation, whether with me or with yourself, we deepen our connection to our own will, strength, and wisdom.
I guide individuals to make thoughtful, conscious decisions for themselves. With an integrative approach, my focus is on supporting individuals in navigating life-stage transitions, uncovering and recognising the underlying causes of their difficulties and limitations. This process is collaborative, supportive and healing.
Through our work together, we explore what truly matters to you, navigate challenges in better ways, and take an active role in healing and growth.
